This policy explains the current Android preview, this website and information you choose to send to support.

Who is responsible

Evennight is operated by Bryan Johnson. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@evennightapp.com.

What Evennight does

Evennight is an Android sound-masking app. Adaptive mode uses the phone microphone to notice changes in nearby sound and adjust the masking output. Steady mode plays continuous masking sound without microphone access.

Microphone audio

In Adaptive mode, microphone audio is processed as it arrives on the device. Evennight does not make or keep an audio recording, transmit microphone audio from the device, or share it with another party. You can use Steady mode without granting microphone permission.

Information stored on the device

Evennight stores settings needed to operate the app, including named calibration presets, calibration measurements, the selected mode, safety-notice acceptance and a small amount of session status. This information remains in the app’s private storage on the phone.

Network use, accounts and advertising

The current app has no account system, advertising service, analytics service or network permission. Its masking functions work without Wi-Fi or mobile data. Evennight does not sell personal information.

Website statistics and your choice

Our hosting provider, Hetzner, receives your IP address and ordinary request information to deliver this website. On the same server, we count page requests and use a locally stored country database to estimate the country of the network making the request. This helps us understand which pages are useful and where interest in Evennight comes from. A network’s country can differ from your location, for example when using a VPN.

We keep daily totals by page and country for up to 13 months. We do not store IP addresses, browser details or individual visit histories in the statistics database, create visitor identifiers, or send visitor IP addresses to an external location service. These are counts of page views, not identified people. There are no advertising trackers or analytics cookies, and the Android app sends no usage information.

You can exclude your browser from website statistics using the controls at evennightapp.com/privacy#website-statistics. At your request, we store a preference cookie for one year to remember your choice. You can change it here at any time. We also exclude requests carrying Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals. Clearing cookies removes the saved choice; it applies separately to each browser.

Country estimates use IP Geolocation by DB-IP. The statistics are available only through our private dashboard. Routine visitor access logging is disabled for this site; separate technical fault or security records may be retained while an issue is investigated.

Support email and service providers

If you email support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. Email delivery providers process those messages to deliver and store them. Please do not send bedroom recordings, passwords or sensitive health information. Support information is used to answer your request and investigate reported problems, and is kept only while needed for that purpose or a related legal obligation.

Website hosting and email providers may process information in countries other than your own. Contact us for details of the providers and transfer arrangements relevant to your request. Links to research and other websites open services governed by their own privacy policies.

Why we use information and your choices

Where data-protection law requires a lawful basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating a secure website, understanding aggregate website use and responding to support requests. Website statistics use only the minimum request information needed to produce totals, without identifying visitors; you can object using the controls above or by contacting us. Providing a support message is optional. We do not sell personal information or make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of information we hold. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact support to exercise these rights. You can complain to your local data-protection authority, including the UK Information Commissioner’s Office where applicable.

Deleting app information

You can remove saved presets within Evennight. You can remove all locally stored information by clearing the app’s storage in Android settings or uninstalling the app. Because the information is not sent to us, we cannot view or delete it remotely.

Permissions

Adaptive mode requests microphone access. Android notification and foreground-service permissions allow an active masking session to continue when the screen is locked and provide a visible control for the session. Wake-lock access helps prevent Android from suspending an active session.

Children

Evennight is intended for general adult use and is not designed to collect information from children. A responsible adult should supervise any use around a child and keep emergency sounds audible.

Changes to this policy

If a future version adds accounts, analytics, online services or other data use, this policy and the disclosures in the app will be updated before those features are released.
